New Wave

April 7, 2013 at 11:41 (Film)

Of the ten last films I saw at the cinema, nine of the films were not new releases. The one new release was a documentary on Ray Harryhausen featuring lots of clips from old films. I love the cinema and a I love seeing new films but there really is something great a favourite film on the cinema screen. Going further back than the ten films, number 12 was Back To The Future, a film that seems to be shown on ITV2 every weekend and I own on DVD but I’d never seen at the cinema.

There are around ten new fims released each week. Ten. On any given week the majority of these films will be rubbish and not worth a cinema ticket price, so who goes to see them? Would these films not be seen by more people if they premièred on television, on-demand or disc. Could we free up the cinema screens for re releases of classic films and highlighting more worthy new films?
